#2: Miles: Miles talks about the difference between Eastern and Western Christian use of religious images. Icons are much more common in the East, raising the issue of just what this image IS. Is a picture of a saint simply a representation of that saint, or does it somehow contain some of the power of the saint? Can material objects contain within them some of the energy or essence of what/who they represent? Do you hold onto a photograph or souvenir of a loved one only to remember them? Or do you somehow also feel connected, as if you were holding a part of them? What do you believe?
