One alternative type of therapy is yoga. Many people use this to relieve stress and align mind, body, and spirit. Yoga postures main focus in terms of therapy is working through the body (Luskin, 2004). Meditation is another form of therapy that is used to work through the mind (Luskin, 2004). Last, prayer is another practice that helps with spirit (Luskin, 2004). Praying aligns well with a Christian worldview. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people (Ephesians 6:18 New International Version).
I pray often, but I have never seen it as a therapy that rejuvenates my spirit. In terms of the therapy that I feel is best, it is a combination of the above three. Yoga helps me to relax, but also makes me feel that I am doing well for my body. Meditation is also relaxing, but it does not make me feel like I am doing much for my body. I could see how using meditation, yoga, and prayer consistently could make a person feel healthier overall. When I think of the alternative therapies, the main thing I associated them with is stress relief and relaxation.
