When creating a thesis statement, you have to make sure that your thesis statement is neither too general nor too specific. If your thesis statement is too general, your main point will be much too big to address in a relatively short essay. (Example: Communism is an ineffective economic system.) If your thesis statement is too specific, your main point won’t be complex enough for an essay of the required length, and you won’t have enough to say. (Example: People should eat healthy snacks every three or four hours.)
An argument-based thesis statement has to express an opinion; thus, a thesis statement cannot be a question. Instead, it has to be a strong, direct statement of the argument you in tend to prove/support in the body of your essay.
