POL102 USD Will There Be a War Between the United States and Iran Paper
Your paper will address the following question: In the next 2 years, will there be a war between The United States and Iran?
Sources: Your paper should refer to the 1) book World Politics: Interests, Interactions,Institution (Fourth edition) until chapter 2) plus at least two articles from mainstream news sources (New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, BBC, Wall Street Journal, Al Jazeera, etc.).
The news sources you use must have been published after August 1, 2019. There is no need to research more extensive background material from books, government documents, etc.
This assignment asks you to apply concepts from the course to a particular, real-world conflict. To answer the question, you need to focus on both the causes of war and the strategies that countries use to try to get what they want from each other.
Grades will be based on three things:
- Writing. The paper must have a clear thesis, stated early. The rest of the paper should contain facts and logic that support the thesis, and should properly cite sources.
- Analysis of conflict and bargaining. What do the U.S. and Iran each want? How do states bargain with each other to get what they want?
- Analysis of war. Of the factors that contribute to war and peace, which ones apply to the U.S. and Iran and why?
