Compare the different treatment options available for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD

Compare the different treatment options available for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and examine the concerns about treating ADHD with medication. (80 marks) Note: A minimum of 3 journal articles accessed from the library eResources are required. General advice You are asked to compare the different treatment options available for ADHD and to examine the concerns about treating ADHD with medication. Treatment for ADHD can be divided into biological and psychosocial interventions, with the goal of biological treatments being to reduce the impulsivity and hyperactivity and to improve attentional skills, while psychosocial treatments focus on broader issues such as improving academic performance, decreasing disruptive behaviour and improving social skills (Barlow & Durand, 2015). Stimulant medications have been shown to reduce the hyperactivity and impulsiveness of ADHD in many (but not all) children but most children do not show gains in the important areas of academics and social skills (Smith, Barkley, & Shapiro, 2006, as cited in Barlow & Durand, 2015). There are other concerns regarding the use of stimulant medications, especially in children – for example, research suggests that children with ADHD who are treated with stimulant medications are at increased risk for later substance abuse (Wagner & Pliszka, 2009, as cited in Barlow & Durand, 2015). Relevant material As a starting point, to address the question you will have to use information from textbook Chapter 14 (Neurodevelopmental Disorders). However, reference to relevant research studies and examples is essential. The information in the textbook is limited so you will need to go beyond the textbook and course material to search for relevant information to gain a deeper understanding and incorporate this information in your discussion. You will need to use at least 3 journal articles. There is an abundance of sources that you can access from the library or from the library eResources. Take care to assess the credibility of your sources, especially those found online. For example, Wikipedia is not a credible source. Remember that argument and critical evaluation will make for a better essay than a descriptive essay. This essay does ask for some description but it goes on to ask for more analytical, argument driven material and this is where marks are to be earned. Remember to cite your sources and provide complete references to them. Your answer should begin with an introduction that will outline what materials you will cover and what your basic argument will be. You will also need to demonstrate the skill of being concise to fit the material into the word limit of 1200 words. I’ve attached the file question for reference. Please make sure it’s done in APA STYLE! Thanks alot
