Introduction: Write an Introduction which explains why it is important to know about who represents you in the Texas Legislature. Be specific.
Subtopic 1: Provide a general description of the community that overlaps your state representative and state senator’s constituency districts. Include geography, population, income, education, etc. and other demographic descriptors which profile the communities of interest.
Subtopic 2: Identify the number of the House district in which you live. Identify your current state representative, their party affiliation, age, personal and occupational background, personal and political experiences, and years in the legislature.
Subtopic 3: Discuss which committees your representative is assigned to in the current legislative session, and whether these are among the more powerful committees in the House. Then analyze whether your representative’s committee assignments were appropriate for the district.
Subtopic 4: Identify the number of the Senate district in which you live. Identify your current state Senator, their party affiliation, age, personal and occupational background, personal and political experience, and years in the legislature.
Subtopic 5: Discuss which committees your Senator served on in the last legislative session and whether these are among the more powerful committees in the Senate. Then analyze whether your Senator’s committee assignments were appropriate for the district.
Subtopic 6: Summary-Summarize by discussing what you especially learned from this assignment. Bibliography or Works Cited Page: Use MLA, APA, or any accepted style you prefer.
