The Ancient World
The essays should be a minimum of 2 typed, double-spaced pages. You should follow MLA guidelines for formatting and documentation. (Focus only on the text or texts in question. This means no essays from the Internet, Cliff Notes, SparkNotes, etc. Make specific reference to your text in order to prove your point.)
The chapter include: Gilgmesh. Homer, The Iliad. Sappho and Catullus. Euripides, Medea. Virgil, The Aeneid. Ovid, Metamorphses.
Compare or contrast one of the protagonists we’ve read so far to another protagonist in another work (either ancient or modern). Elements to address in your essay beyond a simple list of similarities or differences include a clear explanation of what sort of protagonist you are examining is, what links the two characters together beyond their status as protagonists, and what should the reader “learn” by examining these similarities or differences.
