Philosophy of Religion, philosophy homework help

The purpose of this Discuss post is to clarify what seems to be a contradiction between science and the Bible. Curiously, many Christians accept modern cosmology (i.e., Galileo’s view that the earth is not the center of the universe), while at the same time disagreeing with other scientific knowledge such as the theory of evolution. How is it possible for Christians to accept heliocentrism, but largely dismiss the theory of evolution? How do you understand the relationship between creationism and evolution? What is the relationship, more broadly, between the Bible and science? Is it possible to be a Christian and a scientist? Are faith and reason mutually exclusive?
