Organizational Structure

Think about your current workplace or a company that you admire and would like to work for someday. With this organization in mind, describe the six elements of the chosen company’s structure (work specialization, departmentalization, chain of command, span of control, centralization and decentralization, and formalization). Describe the type of organizational design you feel best describes the chosen company (simple structure, bureaucracy, matrix structure, virtual or “boundaryless”) and explain why.

Organizational Culture

Select a large company that you admire and would like to possibly work for someday. Define the culture of this organization, and discuss the functional and dysfunctional factors at work within this culture. Describe the functional and dysfunctional effects of organizational culture on people and the organization.
