Alexie is such a powerful and controversial writer and the book you have chosen speaks eloquently to those two points. I am just concerned about the thesis statement since you refer to theme, then symbolism, then controversies. You will want to focus in on one of these points. Is there a specific theme you want to talk about, or specific symbolism. If so, how is this theme or symbolism manifested or how is the theme manifested in specific types of symbolism. Remember, the thesis statement needs to identify three points the paper will address in making its argument. I hope that makes sense. Let me know.
