Evergreen Valley College Elements of Iconography & Visual Elements Analysis
Select a work of art of your choosing, upload an image, and do the following:
List 3 examples of iconography in the work. Each symbol should be numbered, identified, and explained using 2-3 sentences. Use research to make sure the interpretation is part of the iconography and not your personal interpretation.
List 5 visual elements and determine how they are being used. Using terms from the visual elements vocabulary lists, number each element, and describe with 2-3 sentences.
List 5 elements of design and composition and determine how they are being used. Using the terms from the principles of design module, take 2-3 sentences each to describe how each element is leading the viewer’s eyes around the piece.
I recommend choosing a historical work of art as you’ll be able to find more resources on the iconography.
