Hello Parents, I know you are excited about your child growth and development. This letter is to assure you that you have made the right decision by allowing us here to work with you and your child. Our goal is to help your child become the best he can be in life. With this in mind we insist that you be fully involve in your child learning. We will continue to inform you of your child progress throughout the year. Even your child will come home talking of the activities that they are engaged in. And as parents you are always welcome to stop in and check on us and ask questions about any concern you may have.
Language and Communication is very important in the growth and development of children because “Language is the principle means by which humans communicate, but not the only one. Communication is the activity of a sender conveying a message, usually with meaningful information to a recipient across space and time (Piper, 2012, p.1.1).”
Infants may not be able to use word but they still can communicate with parents and caretakers using a different language such as crying or whining to get attention. If they are wet, hungry, or need some attention they have their way of letting us know.
According to Vos, (2008) state “Preschool years are vital years, during this period and especially the first three years of life, the foundation for thinking, language, vision, attitudes, aptitudes, and other characteristics are laid down, says Ronald Kotulak, author of Inside the Brain. Consequently, it would be a waste not to use a child’s natural ability to learn during his or her most vital years, when learning a second language is a easy as learning the first. Since 50 percent of the ability to learn is developed in the first years of life and another 30 percent by age eight, early childhood development programs have the opportunity to encourage early learning and development.” (p.1).
Parents another great way to help your child advance in learning is to read to them and talk with them, especially infant children the more they hear you talking to them the more their vocabulary will increase but please do not compare your child to another child because all children learn differently and on different levels each child is unique in their own way so appreciate their progress.
