Economics. Discuss how people made a living in three societies. How did trade and economic development impact the overall happiness of the people? Do you see the societies following different strategies or is it basically the same approach?


Social Classes. Discuss the social structure in three of the societies in Chapters 4-7. Consider factors such as social status, wealth and poverty, and gender roles. Based on the examples, do societies benefit or suffer from having a ruling class?


Persia. What do you find remarkable in the Empires of Persia? What factors could explain their success? How would you characterize their core values? What major developments in Persia could have shaped the world we live in today?
