For this outline, use the template provided below.

  • Take your thesis statement from the previous assignment (possibly improved based on feedback from your teacher) and make it Roman numeral I.
  • Next, show three main arguments as II, III, and IV; these are the arguments you are making to support the overall argument put forth in your thesis. They should be examples relating to your theme, spanning three different time periods.
  • In your research paper, you will need to provide specific, researched evidence about your chosen theme (conquest, slavery, science and technology, arts, or religion) to support your argument. For this outline assignment, show notes and citations for your proof as the “Examples.”
  • The final section, V, is for your conclusion. Pull together your information and illustrate how your argument provides insight into world history.

Remember, this is a comparative paper, and the following outline suggests how to organize your content.You should not, for instance, spend a third of the paper on each time period and how it relates to your theme of conquest (for example).
