Argumentative Essay using any approach as a method of development, English homework help

I need a 500-750 word argumentation/persuasion essay using any approach as a method of development. This assignment requires the use of two references. In addition, you will add a Works Cited page at the end of your essay. Finally, your Works Cited page will be in MLA (Modern Language Association) format so that all information provided will be easy for your reader to find. Apply MLA formatting, including parenthetical documentation and a works cited page, to an argumentation essay. The topic should be on “The 2011 Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster which included the explosion of three reactors and the meltdown of four”. You can approach this any way you choose from the media blackout of information coming out of Japan (the site is still emitting nuclear material into the environment) to the environmental impact here in the U.S. etc.

An effective argumentative essay must have evidence to make its case; most arguments that occur in daily life happen in the heat of the moment and are more likely directed toward saving one’s own pride than toward giving clear and supportive proof to one’s claims.

This week it is all about Lesson 7 and the Argumentative Essay. If you did not complete the assigned readings from Lesson 6, it will show very quickly in this assignment. You ‘must’ have research in this essay…at least one credible, academic source that is documented using MLA format in each supporting paragraph and includes a works cited page. Source must be credible. It can come from the Internet, but go ‘first’ to the online library database to ensure you have an acceptable source.

No Wikipedia, no about.com, ask.com, eNotes or other generic websites. Aim to find one ‘authored’ source actually published with Internet access to that article. Avoid going to “Google” for a source.

Remember, I must see an in-text citation in each of those supporting paragraphs documenting where the source material was used to avoid a failing score. If you use source material, but have no citations, then you did not read Appendix A as assigned which explains this whole process, and you will suffer from grade shock 😉 Do not use or rely on ‘according to’ statements…these ‘are not’ citations and I must see those parenthetical citations.

So do not do this:

According to Smith, 22% of Americans are overweight.

Instead, do this:

22% of Americans are overweight (Smith).

The second example is far easier to read because it just contains what the reader wants (the facts) and cites at the end. Review Appendix A in your textbook (assigned during Week 7) for full citation information/help with MLA format.

Remember also, you are not selecting a topic–there is one in the assignment instructions for you to write about.

On the Argumentative Essay for Lesson 7 remember all the basics…third person point of view. No I/me/my/we/our/you/your pronouns….double space…indent paragraphs…no subheadings, etc. 5 paragraphs of 5 sentences each. 500 word minimum.
