AOJ 200 Discussion
For this unit, there is a discussion on THE ROLE OF EVIDENCE IN CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS (CORRESPONDS TO CHAPTER 3 OF YOUR TEXT).
Each unit, you will submit a QTIP (Quote, Thought, Interesting Point) involving the topic for the current discussion. The assignment is designed to assist you learn concepts in the class. Your post must have factual information and YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR PERSONAL THOUGHTS and OPINIONS on the topic as well. If you do not include this, you will not receive full credit.
DISCUSSION SPECIFICS:
Scan and review the media for one of the following four incidents (no other cases please):
- George Zimmerman shooting of Trayvon Martin in Sanford Florida
- Ariel Castro (victims Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina “Gina” DeJesus/Cleveland Ohio)
- The “Dark Knight” case (suspect James Holmes/Aurora Colorado)
- The Boston Marathon bombings
- After reviewing the case, analyze the case for the presence (or absence) of evidence to (1) determine that a crime occurred, (2) identify the perpetrator, and (3) apprehend the perpetrator.
- When possible, discuss the types and functions of evidence that are present (or absent) in the case.
- Discuss your findings and comment on your opinions related to the investigation.
This section must be at least 300 words minimum. Include a word count in parenthesis at the end.
