About Alzheimer’s Disease Pamphlet

Pick one of the following mental disorders/diseases:

  • Depression
  • Dementia
  • Alzheimer’s Disease

Design an educational intervention program in the form of a pamphlet to prepare new and potential caregivers of depression/dementia/Alzheimer’s patients for what to expect in caring for an older loved one. Discuss your approach and why the topics in the intervention were selected.

Your pamphlet should include at minimum the following types of information.

  • Information about the disorder/disease
  • Symptoms (what to look for as a caregiver)
  • Treatments
  • Instructions for caregivers how to take care of elderly patients with this disorder/disease
  • Sources for more information (websites and/or books that would be a good resource) about the disease/disorder
  • Information on local (or nearest) resources that can be found in their community (assume that the patient is in the same community you live in)
  • Phone numbers and hotline numbers that might be useful to the caregiver for emergencies

Treat this as a pamphlet that you might pick up at the doctor’s office or a nursing home and so you should think of this as something that will really help someone who is caring for a loved one. A one-paragraph summary of the topics to be covered will not suffice. Probably the best way I can describe what this pamphlet should be like is for you to imagine that your parents or grandparents have one of these disorders/diseases, what would you want to know going into to the job of taking care of them.
